Thanks to its extravagant atmosphere and its groundbreaking sounds, the club has won a rare and unique fame, deserving, a few days ago, that the stolen drinks were offered for sale on eBay. Hoards of people have been turned away at the door, and many theories have been elaborated about which style and attitude to adopt to be allowed to enter the club.
This myth pushed the photographer Vincent Voigner , along with his Italian colleague Barbara Bernardi, to realize a photographic project to immortalise people leaving the club. The photographic project lasted two years.

At the end of the day, even with its cult following and amazing techno, Berghain is still just a club. So relax, most people get knocked back because they look completely out of their comfort zone, and no amount of black clothing or leather can hide it.

The club is meant for techno-lovers and people who are all about the music. Because the cardinal rule of Berghain is no photos or videos. Today, the line at the entrance isn't too long. Nobody is really talking and the closer you get to the door, the more silent it becomes. The guy with the big glasses who is sitting on a barstool next to the entrance nods at me, allowing me to pass, and immediately I feel a surge of energy.

Thomas says most of the people in Berghain are on drugs such as GHB. This Berghain religion is something private. It is the great exception in the age of social media: no pictures, no posting, no selfies. Everything is strictly forbidden.
