Japanese people value harmony and uniformity, hence when they dress up, they aim to blend in with the majority. Plain, simple and subtle colors are the key to typical Japanese attire. Nothing should stand out too much.
I have observed that wearing suits is very common in Japan. Whether it be for a final presentation at school, a job internship, a job interview, or graduation, Japanese men usually wear suits.
They also tend to wear solely white shirts and black ties. Blending in with the norm is expected. Contrary to the Japanese, most Koreans wear bright and more colorful attire. I remember my Korean friend saying during her culture presentation in school, that unlike in Japan, they can wear nice colorful dresses when they do their internships and especially during job interviews!
Also, Korean fashion clothes go with the trend while Japanese fashion clothes put more emphasis on small personal touches. As for the Chinese, from my own observations, it tends to be quite mixed, incorporating influences from Japanese fashion, western-style clothing, and south-east Asian trends. Chinese young people are taking a lot of influence from Japanese high street fashion.
There are also some extreme fashions such as ganguro that come and go. Of course, everyone is different and has their own personal style, so take this with a pinch of salt. A further point to note is that Japanese people often wear whitening makeup, and there is a bit preference for appearing lighter skinned than your natural skin colour.
This is also becoming somewhat popular in China now, where makeup practices are often influenced by Japan. Korea does seem to be a little less in favour of this, but on the other hand, South Korea is big on plastic surgery, so that could be another difference to consider. Even up until now, after living in Japan for quite some time, it is still a challenge for me to tell the difference between these three nationalities.
Even people from geographically close countries can come from very different origins and look totally different. The most important thing to remember is that we are all totally different in our characteristics and personality traits. Just like everyone else! Hopefully, with these things to keep in mind, you will be able to make an educated guess as to where a person is from.
What kind of clothes are they wearing? What is their face shape like? What kind of style is their make up? She behaves in a cute manner. Lucia, Spain I think Japanese have slimmer faces, people in South Korea have more plastic surgery and Chinese have a typical Asian face. When you think of an Asian face you think more of that type of face.
In terms of makeup and fashion, I think South Koreans tend to prefer fairer skin than Japanese and Chinese. They also dress trendier. People in Japan tend to be cute. In China people tend to apply natural makeup and there is no typical style. They do what they like. I think Japanese people like to be in their own space. Here in China people are more helpful but maybe also crazy around you. For example, they may want to take photos with you.
As for South Koreans, I think they are more open than Japanese but they don't show it. They are between Japanese and Chinese. They also wear less makeup. I think Japanese people like to have fairer skin and wear crazier outfits. In China, I think people dress in more varieties. There is more color and a lot more differences between people here. In terms of behavior, I think Japanese people are a bit more distant. In my impression, they work very hard.
They sleep at their job. My brother used to work for a Japanese company and he said they work like crazy and so he quit. Dennis, Belgium I heard that Chinese people have rounder faces and flatter noses.
Japanese people are paler with more makeup and South Korean people's eyes are less flat. I think people in China wear a lot of colors. In China, people are not afraid to choose something else and be different.
I think Chinese people are very polite to tourists. Japanese are also polite but a little bit more introverted. They don't want to show their feelings to the outside world. Mary, Russia They all look the same.
It is scarry that they changed their whole faces and have to lied and dump their childhood photos aways. Their genes are still there and their kids will inherit them. Calm down Jenifer, Chinese people are very beautiful and Korean people are ugly and hope you feel better.
Chinese is a nationality and not an ethnicity. There are also ugly Chinese and ugly Japanese too. But what is happening in Korea is because due to long period of isolation and not mixing with other people. Northeast Chinese is Korean and Mongolian mixtures. I never seen a good looking korean before. ONly on magazines………. Most korean celebrities had plastic surgery. Koean isolated themselves for a long time. This is why they have higher natural population of mongoloid looking faces.
Park Si yeon had so much plastic surgery to alter her face. Miss korea all look a alike due to plastic surery. None looks like the plastic surgery korean celebrities. Nowadays many had plastics surgery. EVEn kim tae hee had eyelids,,nose, and forehead plastic surgery. All fakes.
Many south koreans had their eyes done, then their facial bones, then some get nose jobs and fake nose bridges silicon sticks. Park si Yeon is very famous for having too many surgery. She had so many nose jobs and her nose if she is not careful with fall off her face. South Koreans have plenty of fake faces. In order to fix their faces, they need to move outside of their korean bloodline, then surgery may no longer needed. THeir skin color comes in all shades like like Chinese and Japanese people.
It is hard to tell. I see those faces everywhere. To put up Lucy LIu to represent all Chinese is stupid. She looks like those Japanese Anime.
BUt we are Cantonese. My ancestors are from Canton , China. My brother has a small face on the narrow side , tall pointy nose and he is the only one in my family that has monolids. My younger sister has oval face, triangle shape nose with a tip, medium size eyes with double eyelids. She is light borwn. I am very fair skin, round face, medium size double eyelids, I have a strong nose bridge but I have no tip on my nose.
People mistaken me as Mix all the time. You name it, I got mistake for it. I hardly get mistaken as Korean. People told me because I have gentle facial features. Never heard of an obvious Japanese feature before………… You must be so blind or not known enough about Chinese, Japanese, and Korean people to make such a statement.
They can look the same with the exception of Koreans having the most mongoloid facial ffeatures than the rest………………………. The one we considered beautiful all look the same. Oval faces, small nose that are refined looking.
Big eyes. Who is real and who is not. Japan practiced plastic surgery more than 95 years ago Koreans started to alter their faces in and by it is common thing to do in South korea. They throw away their baby to childhood photos after plastic surgery Most of their celebrities had eyelid surgery. And it is shocking to see some that changed their faces completely………… Plastic in general south korean population is high.
Plastic among Japanese, and Korean celebrities is high. NOt all Chinese celebrities had plastics. The more gene flow into the country the less plastic one person will need. It is good to have genes coming in.
China has ovr 56 ethnic groups and that explains why chinese is not in need of plastic as much as koreans, Look at how Northern Koreans look like. Very mongoloid because they cannot afford plastic surgery like South koreans……………….. Different from Han Chinese……………… Orginal China was very small. Located more of northeast of China……………… One king divided and conquer the rest of what is called modern day China………… China made of over kingdoms. The korean and Japanese gals look very similar in these photos.
But are they really natural????????????.. You must excuse me but I see racisim in every word you write. I hope you change your mind becuase I think personal racial appereances should be respected.
The Koreans I know do not look like that and they tend to have smaller eyes with stronger facial features. The first guy is Korean.
His name is Kwon Sangwoo. And the second is Japanese and the third is Chinese. Koreans do not change off their entire face unlike media portrays it, double eyelid and nose are common but anything other than that is way less common. All of three countries share long histories, and people mingled in. Retarded thing is, Chinese and Japanese get shit tons of plastic surgery done. These are what typical Korean beauties look like naturally.
Yes, Koreans are the most attractive- but using plastic surgery as an excuse on the chinese or japanese part just makes them see extremely butthurt and jealous! Koreans usually have oval shaped faces with big eyes. Chinese have wide, flat faces with large cheekbones and small eyes. No, not all Chinese have small eyes, wide face, and large cheekbones.
In fact those features are more commonly found among Northeast Asians such as Mongols, Tungusic peoples, and some Koreans. There are some Chinese with large eyes and double eyelids, especially in some places of southern China. Some have very wide big faces like KOreans. IT is scary. Koreans have the highest percentage of big bones on their faces. Southern chinese very gentle features, easy on the eyes with double eyelids.
Some Japanese are identicial Dna to ugly koreans too. And same goes for chinese people. Being Chinese, Korean or Japanese is a nationality and not and ethnicity. KOreans are the one with the mongols or mongoloid looking faces. Most koreans without plastic are way more mongoloid looking than other Asians. Southern china you find women with large eyes and double eyelids, fair skin, and very pretty.
They are so lucky and some of them have oval facess. China is a very heterogeneous country with diverse phenotypes. Her parents came from Beijing and Shanghai. Lucy Liu cannot represent Chinese appearance. At most she could only represent Beijing or Shanghai. Then again this might be a stretch since Beijing and Shanghai are also not homogeneous cities. The so-called Han Chinese ethnicity is basically a mixed hodge-podge of various groups of people assimilated by the Sinitic culture.
LUcy Liu looks like a mixture of those mongolian people which is more korean looking than chinese. There is no such thing as Han CHinese. All the koreans and Japanese from my town have no eyelid creases and super mongoloid features. Than you get those beautifu natural barbie chinese girls. Then it was not until I moved to the large cities that I saw some less mongoloid Japaneses, but koreans are always the ugliest among all..
Paul Song. Most koreans get their small eyes make huge. People in Bejing and Shaighai are naturally more mongoloid looking than other Chinese. Nowadays nobody care and NOrth and South Intermarry. Very good looking and joan looks more korean to me.
The people from Bejing and Shaighai are usually mongoloid looking. They have DNA connections to koreans. That is all made up statistics. YEs, you are right. All those idiots are just bunch of retards. CHina was created using over kingdoms And these idiots are just so dump that I wonder what they do for a living??? Most korean women between 18 and 36 since had plastic surgery to their eyelids as number one surgery, then nose jobs, then facial bone reshaping. CHeck out Park Si yeon to see how plastic she is.
Yoon eun hye had plastic surgery. I will try to show the before face first to you. She is cute before but she undergone eye, nose, and her chin is different now.
NOT true. Ask south korean plastic surgeons about this fact. Over 80 percent have no eyelid creases and their south korean plastic surgeons even stated that. Why koreasn are in so denial of their ethnicity???????? They are the ones with the highest percentage of mono lids among Asians. I think MOngolians are that way too. The further North you go in Asia the more Mongoloid faces you see.
All the photos I shown you are koreans that had plastic surgery. The list goes on and on. This is a typical eyes of korean people. Yes, both did. All did including Kim Tae Hee She had made her eyelid creases deeper. I can detect that from her high school photo.
The only one I can see did not get plastic Lee Young Ae. Of course there are better looking ones. Also many Japanese models are full blooded japanese.
Most korean models and celebrities had plastic surgery. I spotted many had eye, nose, and some kind of facial bone contouring surgery. Koreans are often known to have big wide faces, cheekbones too high making their faces looking flat. Many people of Beijing has korean blood are pure korean people.
This is why chinese from their are ugly. Her eyes looks korean. Koreans retained a lot of super mongoloid looking faces due because they isolated themselves in the peninsula. Most korean celebrities had plastic………………… Face it that all got their before faces and after faces posted on the internet by their own korean people snitching on them.
They get they chins shave, jaw bone shave, and ther checkbones cut. THey usually have more wide and flat faces than the other south half of China…. All koreans I ever see have very mongoloid features here in USA. How about Koreans shaving their jaws down!
Most Koreans have oval shaped face and medium-big eyes with thin eyelids. Japanese have round faces with big eyes and thin eyelids. Chinese have wide flat square faces with big cheekbones and small eyes.
How said. Koreans do NOT need plastic surgery like Chinese people do. Do you think Chinese celebrities are natural????! Chinese celebs are all fucking plastic as hell!!!!!!!!!! Look at your fan bingbing. There was also that chinese popstar, wang bei, who died from plastic surgery because of all the unsanitary conditions and corrupted, criminal doctors in China.
And you HAVE heard of the chinese man who sued his ugly and plastic Chinese wife for giving birth to an ugly baby, right? Stop being jealous, you typical chinese person! Square face, small eyes, large cheekbones are the typical features of Northeast Asian Tungusic peoples. YEs you are right. Those people that have big bones on their faces and small eyes are related to those koreans that look like that.
No more attractive than your average chinese person. Also do I have to mention that china has 1. Korea has only 50 million? And before you say I have anything against Koreans, look at my icon. I love Oh Sehun, example of Korean beauty.
I have never met any koreans looking like their celebrities. All I ever see is big faces and small eyes korean. I shop in korean town too and I never seen a pretty face. To be honest, I kind of expected Brazil to top the list but was not surprised when South Korea topped the list. The most common plastic surgery procedures are minor ones such as, double eye-lid surgeries, for both men and women.
And your comment upset me because this post was supposed to be about distinguishing the difference between the Chinese, Japanese and the Koreans, not about which ethnic group is prettier than the other.
And I will give a reply to your comment on how Korean celebrities are way prettier than, supposing by the way you worded it, the average Chinese. And average Koreans are not very different from the average Chinese and average Americans etc. Why the hate? LOL cheesy line I know. I know that your comment was triggered because of people saying Koreans are fake. Lashing back at them shows that you are just like them. All their celebrities had plastic.
Koreans usually are born with no eyelid creases and small eyes. She did her eyelids, nose, and changed her facial shape. Check out her MIss korea contestant photo of Than her photos later. A different face. Before she has more of a cute korean face but afterward she altered it to look like a half asian.
Koreans have hate because they have inferior complex. I noticed they are less friendly than other Asians. And they all do lied about themselves being best looking Asians. That is such a funny statement. Most arent even good looking…. They put down other Asians when they have the most highest percent of ugly people among their kind…………. All plastics people. In order to report plastic surgery counts to them you have to be a member.
It is way higher than that…. They keep saying Vietnamese, chinese, japanese, and other asians had fake double eyelids is a lie. All south koreans are very fake. Kim Tae Hee, song Hye Gyo spelling , park si yeon and the many had it done. Some of them had purchased a complete new face while others had sharpened their facial features……………….. Many korean men and women have very unique small eyes with no eyelid creases. I seen these kinds of eyes among KOreans in high percentage.
THese eyes are among many Korean leaders politicians. This is why you see Chinese people looking like KOrean people because they are korean people. Koreans problems needing so much plastic is due to their genes. Other countries have more varieties of genes and Korea is small countries North and South……………………… Look at North Korea and you will see what I mean.
Very mongoloid faces They are poorer and cannot afford plastic surgery. BUT KOreans have the high percentage of uglies due to not enough gene flow. Look at the royal family of GB before Diana..
All have inbreed looking faces. Prince Charles is a good example of someone with too much inbreed genes. This link is in regards to what you said about the man suing his wife for having ugly children.
Thank you for saying Korean celebrities are attractive naturally, but do not say Chinese are not. Well, many celebrities in many different countries get plastic surgery, and many Korean celebrities do it too.
Plus, since the populations of China and Japan are bigger, there are relatively more people who are attractive. And the plastic surgery thing… well, not all the people are able to get surgery. Rich people can get it because of the price. Eyelid surgery is the most common one because it is relatively inexpensive, but not everyone can get one. Also, there are attractive people in every country, and you may feel some are not in every country; even in Korea.
You seem to be very confused! Most Koreans have oval face shapes??? CHina did not allow plastic surgery until dumb ass. It was illegal before that. Koreans the worst looking among Asians. I have never met any non harsh facial feature koreans. Usually the men have square faces, too much bone on their faces, cheekbones too high up making their faces looking flat, small mono lid eyes. THere is no Dr. I live by many Koreans. He is one of the best looking korean men without plastic.
Here there are many koreans. I have not seen any that looks like their celebrities. Many have big wide round or square faces, and they look more mongoloid than other Asians here. KOreans usually have harsh facial features. NOt soft. China has Koreans especially North and NOrtheast.
Japan also have korean looking faces because they are Korean DNA people. THe emperior of Japan had admitted he has korean blood in him. Google it. I have not seen that Many Japanese looking like their models or celebrities. Most of their models are mixed japanese with white. They also do not like typical Japanese faces and that is why most models they used are not pure Japanese.
I think more of the natural pretty one are vietnamese. Not the ones that have the negrito blood. There is way less plastic in their people than among korean being highest in fake faces due by tons of plastic surgery. It used to be japanese in Japan celebrities that get plastic surgery to alter their looks.
Chinese is the least due to them being communist and it was against the law to alter the face due to the fact that they are afraid of criminals doing that to change their identify. CHina, however opened up to plastic surgery around SOuth korean have opened plastic surgery clinics there. They need double chin surgery because their chins are too long and cheek bone surgery to reduce the height of it. Too high make their faces looking very flat. Northeast people of China typical looks like koreans and some population of Japanese people.
People of Japan that has soft facial features usually have blood of Southern Chinese. Same goes for Korean. Southern Chinese has gentle facial features.
Easy on the eyes…………………… That is why back in ancient history, northern Chinese Soldiers married Southern Chinese women. They are more feminine looking than women from the north. This is due to them isolating themselves for a long time leading to these kind of faces. NOwadays many of them get plastic surgery to make their faces soft and gentle looking. Their real faces are in general very harsh looking. Actually, when you will look out to their face, you i identify if who is the japanese, the chinese and who is the korean because of the differences of thier facial structure.
Japanese are usually easiest to tell apart, they usually have longer squintier eyes but yet a somewhat more western facial structure in the sense that their faces are more defined and dimensional high cheek bones, triangular, etc.
Sometimes they will have taller noses. Japanese also dye their hair often both guys and girls. Koreans are more of the opposite from Japanese in many ways, though they also have squinty eyes, they are not long or wide, they are usually the smallest of all Asian eyes they do not have much dimension to their facial structure.
Koreans dress much more business-like and will wear collared shirts and suit jackets, slacks, nice jeans, fashionable business attire, but not very modern-hollywood-wild style. Many Korean girls cut their bangs fringe straight across and often pull their hair back or flip it in but hardly ever out. They wear big loop ear rings, baseball caps, lots of pink and pastel-bright colors and a lot of striped clothing.
Most Korean men, wear a shaggy hair style that almost looks like Leggo hair. Chinese are somewhat of an in between in a few ways. Chinese facial structure varies as there are MANY different ethnic groups in China and it is so large and ancient, whereas the Korean and Japanese areas are much more dense and mostly of one origin or ethnicity. For the most part the Han Chinese which makes up the majority of China are a more rounded face with flatter wider noses and also much more round and less-squinty eyes.
Many Chinese people have double eye lids and bigger eyes, though there are of course several with small eyes too. Chinese will sometimes dye their hair however they are much more conservative with styles. Taiwan is a blend of Chinese and Korean clothing style, which sometimes confuses people, but their facial features are very Chinese and not Korean.
HongKongese tend to let themselves tan as well and have a more southern Asian look mixed with their Chinese look, they also dress very business-like, but with some wild-styles too and currently are very into black rimmed glasses.
Hope that helps. I have spent much time with all 3 of them for years and that is only a drop in the bucket as to their differences. It takes being around them a lot to notice, but I can tell them apart from a mile away unless they are American-born or mixed, which can sometimes throw things off.
The above example pictures are not the ideal for showing their major differences, but are still good examples of many Japanese, Chinese and Korean people out there.
Your description of the three groups is not really accurate. The pure Han Chinese look would be slightly rounder eyes, long nose, tall stature, slender build, slightly squarish face, and light to medium dark skin. Zhang Yimou to me looks very purely Han Chinese and he is from Shaanxi. Except some of what you say is really inaccurate. This was a topic of discussion when I was back in college. The test was given to Asians during college club hours to Asian clubs.
And most only got a few right. Italian, Greek, Russian, etc. No one got even one right. My girlfriend is chinese and was raised in China. Your answers are wrong for both! The correct answers are in another blog post by this blogger. I got the ladies all correct, and only switched the Korean guy with the Japanese. No random guess work. For the men i can tell by their hairstyle HAIR korean- their hair tend to be down and wavy Chine- same as korean but split in half Japanese- tend to be messy sometimes.
How could you tell? What if the other race had the same hair as the others? I mean hair is HAIR. You can style it anyway you can. Korean is peculiar. They have peculiar eyes. They look alike to me, Japanese. I was out at a bar in Japan with a Chinese friend who speaks Japanese well, but with an accent even I can hear, and a couple of Japanese people that we talked to thought that she was Japanese.
These are just what I feel. A Southern Chinese who has been living overseas for generations. Its just my guess since I do see quite a number of Chinese, Japanese and Korean people around.
And personally, I feel that people who come from Northern and Southern China look slightly different, we Chinese can usually differentiate it among ourselves.
Southern Chinese have slightly larger eyes on average. I live in Korea and see plastic surgery all day long. I know what it looks like. But you, my dear, need to calm down. Apparently I struck a nerve. The following appear to be general findings: 1 Koreans are tall, square-faced high flat cheekbones with square jaws , with small eyes with single eyelids and pale faces. Think Frankenstein. Think Yoda. Think Buddha. Lol, leekonghian, I kept laughing in my bathroom in t middle of night, reading ur comment.
U got it right, well, most of it, I think! I nearly killed myself again, laughing too much. I am Japanese, by t way. Chinese people have weak cheekbones and rounder faces. Japanese people have very strong cheekbones. If the kids are mixed part Japanese, Chinese, caucasian, etc all bets are off. Eric is correct. Man on the right is Satoshi Tsumabuki, a Japanese actor. Koreans: broad cheek bone, small mono-lid eyes, big jaw, flat nose, pale-yellow complexion, large face Chinese: broad cheek bone, small double-lid eyes, big jaw, flat nose, pale-yellow complexion, medium face Japanese: medium cheek bone, small double-lid eyes, medium jaw, small-non flat nose, pale-yellow complexion, medium face.
Asian or not. I know it sounds weird and uncanny but it kinda true for me. I could never tell Koreans from Japanese people though so… Yeahhhhh. Well im Korean myself. Koreans usually haves single eyelids and they have more of a round oval face. Chinese people usually have double eyelids and have a round face. Japanese people could have either but the double eyelids are usually creased in and they have a oval face.
Yes, I heard that plastic surgery became quite popular especially in Korea and Japan. I learnt that very often they want to have their eyes correct so that they look more European. Be proud of your special looks and cultivate your natural beauty.
Basically Chinese people are more better looking in general u can find that by walking on the streets in the 3 countries because of the variety and population. However, China also has the biggest number of ugly ppl also because of the population. Ethnically, Koreans and Japanese are more similar to each other, they are closer and they speak the same system of language but a lot of Chinese words and u know why. However these two countries also had many Chinese immigrants too historically.
I think — in general — the Japanese men are the most attractive of the three, then Korean and only then Chinese. Chinese, however, very often have beautiful women. In Japan I once saw a guy on the street looked really gorgeous. Tall, slim, high cheekbones and long hair, that nice shiny black hair almost all Asians have..
