San Antonio fought back in the top of the fifth with some two out offense to cut into the Northwest Arkansas lead. Auston Bousfield singled up the middle and advanced to third on a Nick Perio single. That brought Nick Schulz to the plate, who has been a thorn in the Naturals side all series, and he delivered a two-run double off the wall in center to make it a game.
A couple of Natural newcomers would help put the game out of reach in the seventh and eighth innings as Walters and Miller launched their first home runs at Arvest Ballpark, both solo shots, to extend the Naturals lead to In four postseason games, Ogando has allowed one hit and one walk. Having that stuff and the ability to pitch anywhere in the game, well, we knew what we were doing when we put him out there.
What a weapon. Wow, what a weapon. The Rangers keep finding new ways to use Ogando the starter-turned-reliever. Ogando keeps finding ways to justify their decision. Tuesdays with The Musers and p. Wednesdays with The Hardline.

Let's not discuss the cat. And why not? It worked out well with converting C. Wilson from the bullpen to the starting rotation. But, it also helped out Ogando chances to be a started because Tommy Hunter went down during spring training and the Rangers needed a fifth starter in the rotation. During the season Ogando was able to carry over some of the magic he showed during the season when he was in the bullpen.
It appeared the Jon Daniels was going to catch lightening in a bottle twice if Ogando could prove to be an effective starter. For the season he had a record of with a 3. Also that season he managed to pitch a complete game shutout. Alexi Ogando goes the distance for the Rangers, fanning six en route to the shutout win Your browser does not support iframes.
After two seasons the Rangers thought they really had something with Ogando, but in my opinion he always looked a bit awkward in the starting role. Maybe it was his delivery or just the way his thin lanky body hurled the ball. Injuries were always a concern of mine, but he managed to do very well during the and looked to be an effective starter. In Ogando returned to the bullpen and the Rangers gave Neftali Feliz a chance to be in the starting rotation.
Ogando appeared to be on his way to another great season near the half way point with a 3. He spent about a month on the disabled list after that leg injury and ended back up in the bullpen after his return. After his return from the disabled list he had a 4. He allowed back-to-back home runs to the New York Yankees, which was the first time he had done that in a relief appearance. For the season he was 3 for 6 in save opportunities.
The season Ogando was started off the season again as a starting pitcher. He did pitch well enough in and the first half of to earn that opportunity, but it going back and forth might not have been the best for him or the Rangers. Leonys Martin led off with a double, was bunted to third by Robinson Chirinos and scored on a shallow fly to center by Rougned Odor.
Martin just beat the throw from center fielder Danny Santana. He has to make a perfect throw to get me out. Frasor, who has been rock solid for two months, retired the side in order in the eighth with two strikeouts, Neal Cotts retired Mauer on another grounder to start the ninth, and then Joakim Soria nailed down the last two outs for his 10th save. The win allowed the Rangers to take three of four from the Twins this week, and they are now on their game trip.
We certainly needed it in order to do what we did in the end. The game doesn't always allow you to do what you want to do, but today it did. Ogando has had his issues this season while trying to work out a consistent delivery.
